Campbeltown Tenement Owner Survey

Source

Tenement owners in Campbeltown are being encouraged to complete a survey, being conducted by Campbeltown Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS), to find out how common repairs are managed, and also have the chance to win a £50 shopping voucher.

In recent years, Campbeltown town centre has been regenerated and several prominent tenement buildings have been repaired and others have been brought back to life. Owners have committed to maintaining their properties after major works, made possible by the council and Historic Environment Scotland funded scheme, have been completed.

For most tenements there is no funding available to assist with the cost of repairs and owners have to work together to plan and carry out regular maintenance and repairs to safeguard their properties. Ignoring common repairs can lead rapidly to more serious and expensive problems.campbeltown_tenement_maintenance_guide

Argyll and Bute Council wants to find out what matters most to owners including the demand for a professional factoring service and regular gutter cleaning.

Any owner taking part in the survey will be entered into a draw to win a £50 shopping voucher for the store of their choice.

To complete the survey go to – https://www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/campbeltown-repairs. The survey is for property owners, not tenants.

The Campbeltown CARS team works closely with Housing Services to promote the repair and maintenance of town centre tenements and has hosted regular public maintenance events. In recent years CARS grant funding and Private Sector Housing grant funding has been awarded to the private owners of six tenement properties.

Owners have been encouraged to form owners associations and there are now over 20 active associations operating in Campbeltown town centre and the Campbeltown Tenement Maintenance Guide was designed and published through the Campbeltown Townscape Heritage Initiative.
